This article talks about a homeless student, Chelsea Fearce, that was able to overcome the hardship of not having a home, in order to graduate high school. She not only graduated from Charles Drew High School, but was also valedictorian of her class and had a GPA of 4.529. Chelsea moved from one shelter to the next, with little food, and little light for her homework, but was still able to do an incredible job in her classes.

We all have to view this as an example of someone that is willing to work hard to make a more positive future. Chelsea was able to keep a positive attitude and focus more on the future than her current situation. She said, “I would tell anyone with obstacles to always keep their faith and to think about the future. Work hard now, so that tomorrow will be worth living.” She plans to attend Spelman College in Atlanta this year, double majoring in chemistry and philosophy. She will be entering the college as a junior due to the amount of college courses she has already taken. Chelsea’s hard work and positive attutide should serve as a great example, someone that shows others how to effectively overcome difficulties that we may encounter along the way. Although everyone faces obstacles along their journey, we must work hard and maintain positive thinking to obtain a brighter future.
